Every time you try to download or update Genshin Impact from Genshin Impact launcher, you get an error saying “Game files verification error”. It’s annoying. But don’t worry. There are possible solutions to fix this error.
To fix the error, you can try these possible solutions:

Method 1: Reboot Genshin Impact launcher to try again
On the error screen, there’s a “Retry” button. Just simply click the “Retry” button and see if the error persists. Sometimes you may need to do this a few times until the error is gone.
If the error persists, reboot the Genshin Impact launcher and try downloading the game or update again.
Once the download starts, don’t pause the download process. It could take longer than what you expect. Just wait until the download process completes itself.
Method 2: Check your network connection
In most cases, the Genshin Impact “Game files verification error” is due to an unstable network connection. Due to large game files, an unstable network connection can easily cause the download to stop. If the download stops, the game files can be corrupted. Then the “Game files verification” error can occur.
So check and make sure your network connection is stable. If you’re using a Wi-Fi network, it’s recommended you switch to a wired network.
Method 3: Repair game files
The “Game files verification error” can be caused by corrupted game files. To fix the error, you can use the Repair function in the Genshin Impact launcher to repair the game files. To do so:

2) Click Settings from the top right.
3) Click Repair Game Files and then click the Repair Now button.

If you have antivirus running in the background while downloading the game, the antivirus can be the cause. Your antivirus may block the download by deleting some files.
You can turn off your antivirus temporarily and see if the error persists. If the error is gone, then your antivirus is the cause. If you verify your antivirus is the cause, you can whitelist Genshin Impact in your antivirus. After that, you should be able to download the game.
Method 5: Check Genshin Impact compatibility settings
Check Genshin Impact compatibility settings and ensure they’re causing the “Game files verification error”. Here’s how:
1) Close the Genshin Impact launcher. Ensure it won’t be running in the background. You can open Task Manager to disable it.
2) Open the Genshin Impact installation folder. The default installation location is the following:
C:\Program Files\Genshin Impact
If you have no idea how to navigate to the Genshin Impact installation folder, you can follow these steps:
a) Right-click on the shortcut of the Genshin Impact launcher, and then select Properties.
b) Go to the Shortcut tab and then click on Open File Location.
3) In the Genshin Impact folder, find and open the Genshin Impact game folder.
4) In the Genshin Impact game folder, you may see two .zip files. Exact both of these two .zip files to the Genshin Impact game folder.
If you’re asked to confirm to replace files, click Yes to agree.
5) Once the files are extracted, right-click on the Genshin Impact executable file, and select Properties.
6) Go to the Compatibility tab, and ensure all options under this tab are not ticked. If you see any option is ticked, untick it and then save the changes. Once changed, reboot Windows and then see if you can download Genshin Impact without the error.
Method 6: Manually download the game files
Many Genshin Impact players have reported that downloading the game from the official launcher causes different kinds of download errors. The “Game files verification error” is one of those download errors. To avoid the download errors, you can manually download the Genshin Impact game files instead of downloading them from the official launcher.
To download the game files manually, you can follow these steps:
1) Capture the direct download links, including the game file download link and the language pack download link.
While downloading Genshin Impact from the launcher, you can use some resource monitoring tools, like Process Hacker and Resource Hacker to capture the direct download links.
Alternatively, you can use the API provided by Mihoyo to get the direct download links. Mihoyo has an official sdk for the game and the official API which can be accessed by everyone.
For example, you can get the download links for version 3.3 as follows:
2) Use the direct download links to download the files.
3) Once the files are downloaded, copy and paste them to the Genshin Impact game folder.
To do so:
a) Open the Genshin Impact installation folder. The default installation location is the following:
C:\Program Files\Genshin Impact
Here’s how to navigate to the Genshin Impact installation folder:
Right-click on the shortcut of the Genshin Impact launcher, and then select Properties. Go to the Shortcut tab and then click on Open File Location.
b) In the Genshin Impact folder, find and open the Genshin Impact game folder.
Check if there are any corrupted files, if yes, delete them. The corrupted files will have “_tmp” at the end of the file name.
c) Copy and paste the two downloaded files to the Genshin Impact game folder.
3）Launch the Genshin Impact launcher to download or update the game again.
Method 7: Reinstall Genshin Impact
If you encounter the “Game files verification error” while updating the game, To fix the error, you can try reinstalling the game.
1) Right-click on the Start menu button and select Apps and Features.
2) Locate Genshin Impact from the Apps list, click on it and click the Uninstall button. Then follow the on-screen instructions to finish the uninstallation.
3) Restart your computer.
4) Launch the Genshin Impact launcher to install Genshin Impact.
