Way 1: Restart Chromebook From Quick Settings
You can restart Chromebook from Quick settings, follow these steps:
1) Click on the system tray in the bottom right corner of the screen to open the Quick Settings panel.
2) Click on the Power icon to shut down your Chromebook.
3) Power on your Chromebook to give it a restart.
Way 2: Restart Chromebook From the Lock Screen
To restart Chromebook from the Lock Screen, follow these steps:
1) On the keyboard, press the Search key + L to have your Chromebook locked.
2) On the lock screen, you’ll see the Shut Down button at the bottom left corner. Click on it to power off your Chromebook.
3) Wait a few minutes and power on your Chromebook again.
Way 3: Restart Chromebook Using the Power button
To restart Chromebook using the Power button, follow these steps:
1) Press and hold your Chromebook’s Power button for 1-2 seconds. Then you’ll see the ChromeOS power menu pop up.
2) Select Shut down or Power Off and wait for your Chromebook to turn off.
3) Press the Power button to turn it on to see if the sound is working again.
Way 4: Restart Chromebook Using Keyboard Shortcut
To restart Chromebook with keyboard shortcut, follow these steps:
1）Use Ctrl + Shift + Q + Q. Press and hold down the Ctrl and Shift key, then press the Q key twice. This will log you out of your Google account.
2) Press the Power button on your keyboard to restart your Chromebook.
Way 5: Restart Chromebook From the Settings Menu
You can restart your Chromebook from the Settings menu, to do so:
1) Click on your profile picture in the bottom right corner of the screen, then click the gear icon to access the Settings.
2) In the Settings window, scroll down and click on Advanced.
3) Under the Reset settings section, click on Powerwash.
4) A confirmation box will pop up. Click Restart. Then your Chromebook will restart immediately.
Way 6: Hard Restart Your Chromebook
This is a common way to restart your Chromebook especially when Chromebook is freezing or unresponsive.
1）Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds, then release it. This is to forcibly shut down your Chromebook.
2) Once the Chromebook completely shuts down, press the Power button again to turn it on. We call this “hard restart”. A hard restart is useful when your Chromebook is unresponsive.
