If you’re unable to turn on the built-in camera on your MSI laptop, don’t worry. Many MSI laptop users have also reported the camera not working issue. You can use one of the methods below to resolve the problem.

Method 1: Ensure you’ve installed System Control Manager (SCM)
MSI System Control Manager (SCM) is a built-in system control tool for you to manage device settings. It should be installed in order for the hardware and the function keys to work properly.
If SCM is not installed on your MSI laptop, the camera may stop working. So check if it’s installed on your laptop.
If it’s not installed, you can go to MSI official site to download the utility. Just go to your product’s SUPPORT page on MSI and download SCM from the Utility tab.
If SCM is already installed on your computer, and your MSI laptop camera is still not working, try Method 2.
Method 2: Press Fn+F6 together to enable the camera
For most MSI laptops, the camera can be disabled by default. In this case, you need to enable the camera manually.
To enable the camera, just press Fn+F6 (the Fn key and the F6 key) at the same time. Then check if the camera works properly.
If the camera still doesn’t work, try Method 3.
Method 3: Reset the Embedded Controller (EC) firmware
If Fn+F6 doesn’t resolve the problem, it’s possible the function keys have stopped working. In this case, you need to reset the EC firmware first, then try Fn+F6 again.
Here’s how to do it:
1) Turn off your laptop.
2) Unplug the AC power cord.
3) Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to reset the EC firmware.
4) Plug the AC power cord again.
5) Turn on your laptop.
6) Press Fn+F6 at the same time and and see if the camera works properly.
Method 4: Update the chipset drivers
The last method you can try to fix the problem is to update the chipset drivers.
You can go to MSI’s website to download the latest chipset drivers for your laptop.
Alternatively, you can search “laptop model + driver” using your preferred search engine, then you can find the driver download page of your laptop directly from the search results.
After updating the driver, check to see if your MSI laptop camera works.
