To fix some sort of webcam not working issues, you may need to reinstall the camera driver. In this article, I’ll show you how to reinstall the camera driver on Windows 10. It’s easy and quick. You can do it with just two steps without any computer skills.
Step 1: Uninstall the camera driver
The first thing you need to do is to uninstall the camera driver. Follow these steps:
1) On your keyboard, press Win+R (the Windows logo key and the R key) at the same time to invoke the Run box.
2) Type “devmgmt.msc” into the Run box and click OK to open Device Manager.
3) In Device Manager, expand the category “Imaging devices” (in some cases, the category could be “Cameras“). Right-click on the camera device and select Uninstall device.
Step 2: Reinstall the camera driver
Once the uninstallation is done, click Scan for hardware changes in the top menu then the driver will be reinstalled automatically.
If the driver doesn’t reinstall, restart your computer to allow Windows to reinstall the driver again.
Bonus: After reinstalling the camera driver, you may want to update the driver to the latest version so you can have the best performance for the device. To update the drivers easily, you can use Driver Booster, which (the Pro version) can update all your drivers with just a click.
