You see an ‘X’ on the battery icon. When you hover your mouse on it, you see a message saying “No battery is detected”. There are several reasons for this battery issue. To fix it, you can try the methods below.
I’ve included four methods below to fix the issue. You can try them from the top list until you find the one that works for you.
Method 1: Perform a hard reset
Method 2: Reinstall the battery driver
Method 3: Set BIOS to default
Method 4: Update your BIOS
Method 1: Perform a hard reset
A hard reset means a power reset, which can resolve the ASUS laptop “No battery is detected” issue.
If your laptop is using a removable battery, follow these steps to perform a hard reset.
1) Unplug the charger from your laptop.
2) Remove the battery.
3) Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then release.
4) Put the battery back in.
5) Plug the charger back in.
6) Start your laptop and check to see if the problem resolves.
If your laptop is using a built-in battery, follow these steps to perform a hard reset.
1) Unplug the charger from your laptop.
2) Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then release.
3) Plug the charger back in.
4) Start your laptop and check to see if the problem resolves.
Method 2: Reinstall the battery driver
To fix the ASUS “No battery is detected” issue, you can try reinstalling the battery driver.
Follow these steps:
1) Press Win+R keys to open the Run box.
2) Type “devmgmt.msc” into the Run box and click OK to open the Device Manager window.
3) Expand the Batteries category and right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and then click Uninstall device.
4) Once that has been uninstalled, restart your ASUS laptop to allow Windows to reinstall the battery driver.
5) Check to see if the problem persists.
If reinstalling the battery driver doesn’t work, you can try the next method.
Method 3: Set BIOS to default
Incorrect BIOS settings can cause your ASUS battery not to be detected. To fix the issue, you can try setting BIOS to default.
Setting BIOS to default requires a bit of technical knowledge. If you know how to do it, that’s fine. If not, contact ASUS support or someone who knows how to do it to help with this.
Method 4: Update your BIOS
The last method you can try is to update the BIOS. You can download the latest BIOS from the manufacturer and install it on your computer.
Installing BIOS also requires a bit of technical knowledge. If you’re not sure how to do it or you haven’t done it before, contact ASUS support or someone who has experience on updating BIOS to help with this. Be careful as installing BIOS incorrectly can cause serious system issues.
