Many users have reported that Halo Infinite won’t launch on Steam recently. Not to worry if you’re experiencing the same issue. Try the methods introduced in this post, then the problem may be resolved.
Before you move on to the methods…
If this is the first time you play Halo Infinite, ensure you meet the minimum system requirements for playing the game. If you don’t meet the minimum system requirements, the game cannot play properly.
Following are the minimum system requirements required to play Halo Infinite:
- OS: Windows 10 RS5 x64
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 or Intel i5-4440
- RAM: 8 GB
- GPU: AMD RX 570 or Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti
- DirectX: 12
- Storage: 50 GB
If you meet the minimum system requirements, try the following methods to fix the game not launching issues.
Method 1: Run Halo Infinite as an administrator
Method 2: Disable High-Res Textures
Method 3: Verify integrity of game files
Method 4: Update graphics card drivers
Method 5: Disable integrated graphics card
Method 6: Check your antivirus software settings
Method 7: Reinstall Halo Infinite
Method 1: Run Halo Infinite as an administrator
You can try to run Halo Infinite as an administrator and see if it launches properly. To do this, follow these steps:
1) Launch Steam.
2) In the Library tab, right-click on Halo Infinite and select Manage > Browse Local Files from the drop-down menus. This will take you to the installation folder of Halo Infinite.
3) Right-click on HaloInfinite.exe and select Properties.
4) At the Compatibility tab, check the “Run this program as an administrator” box.
5) Click Apply > OK to save the changes.
6) Launch Halo Infinite and see if the issue is fixed.
If Method 1 doesn’t work for you, continue to try Method 2.
Method 2: Disable High-Res Textures
When you install Halo Infinite, you get a Multiplayer High-Res Textures pack enabled by default, which can cause the game not to launch. To fix the issue, you can try disabling it.
Here’s how to do it:
1) Launch Steam.
2) Right-click on Halo Infinite in your Library and select Properties.
3) Click the DLC tab and uncheck the box next to “Multiplayer High-Res Textures”.
4) Launch the game and see if the issue is fixed.
If Method 2 doesn’t work for you, continue to try Method 3.
Method 3: Verify integrity of game files
Corrupted or missing game files can cause game not launching issues. The “Verify integrity of game files” feature in Steam allows you to repair and replace any corrupted or missing game files. You can use it to fix your Halo Infinite won’t launch issues.
Follow these steps:
1) Launch Steam.
2) Right-click on Halo Infinite in your Library and then select Properties.
3) Click the Local Files tab and click the Verify integrity of game files… button. Then Steam will start verifying the game files. It may take several minutes for the process to complete. Please wait until the process is complete.
4) Once done, restart your computer.
5) Relaunch Halo Infinite on Steam and check to see if it launches properly.
If Method 3 doesn’t work for you, continue to try Method 4.
Method 4: Update graphics card drivers
Outdated graphics card drivers can also cause the Halo Infinite not launching error. To fix the error, you can try updating the graphics card drivers.
You can update the graphics card drivers manually. If you don’t have time or don’t know much about drivers, you can search a third-party driver update utility and use it to help update the drivers easily.
Once you’re done updating the graphics card drivers, restart your game and then relaunch Halo Infinite on Steam. Check to see if it launches without problems.
If Method 4 doesn’t work for you, you can try Method 5.
Method 5: Disable integrated graphics card
This method only works for users who have dual graphics cards, the integrated graphics card and the dedicated graphics cards.
If you have dual graphics cards, the game may be using the integrated graphics card instead of the dedicated graphics card. In that case, the game may not launch properly. To fix the issue, you can try disabling the integrated graphics card.
To do so:
1) Open Device Manager (learn how to access device Manager).
2) Under the “Display adapters” category, right-click on your integrated graphics card and select Disable device.
3) Launch Halo Infinite.
4) Check to see if the game starts up successfully. If yes, access Device Manager again and re-enable the integrated graphics card.
If this method doesn’t resolve the issue, try the next method.
Method 6: Check your antivirus software settings
If you have antivirus software installed, check their settings and ensure Halo Infinite is not blocked.
Alternatively, temporarily disable your antivirus and check to see if the problem persist. If the problem is gone, it means your antivirus is the cause.
If Halo Infinite is blocked by your antivirus software, you’ll need to add the HaloInfinite.exe as an exception on the antivirus software.
Method 7: Reinstall Halo Infinite
If none of the above methods works for you, the last resort you can try is to reinstall Halo Infinite.
Here’s how:
1) Open Steam.
2) Right-click on Halo Infinite in your Library, and select Manage > Uninstall from the drop-down menus.
3) Once the game is uninstalled, right-click on Halo Infinite (which should be grayed out) in the Library tab and select Install from the drop-down menu.
4) Once the game is installed, check to see if the game starts up successfully.
