What is Vulkan?

Vulkan is a low-overhead, cross-platform API (Application Programming Interface), open standard for 3D graphics and computing like OpenGL and Direct3D 11, developed by Khronos Group. Compared with OpenGL and Direct3D, Vulkan API offers higher performance and more balanced CPU and GPU usage. Many high-performance modern video games and applications require Vulkan to run properly.

You don’t need to install Vulkan drivers separately. Usually, Vulkan API is available in graphics card makers’ general release drivers (NVIDIA drivers, Intel drivers, AMD drivers, etc.). To download Vulkan drivers, you just need to download the graphics card drivers. See How to download the Vulkan driver.
